ABOUT

All the songs from the cycle "Wheelbarrow Kamikaze", written by Ellen Koyote~, mostly in 2012 - 2013. A couple of the songs were written earlier, but hung around in my head and fingers for a while, gradually growing into themselves and finding their form. Activist blues is inspired by my friends Nils and Herman and their experience of being arrested in Israel, and by the aftermath of an action we had here in Oslo against unnecessary use of heavy fines and rough police tactics. Yep, you guessed it, half of us were chucked into police vans, kept for the day and given heavy fines. Ironic certainly, but ultimately not that funny. Though it did prove our point.

CREDITS

Music, lyrics, acoustic guitar and vocals by Ellen Koyote~. Various other instruments by Koyote and Lars Toverud. Piano on "Resistance", "Mexican stand-off" and "Vicious", and good talks over tea between sessions, by Lara Bujanda. Kaossilator on "Spirals" by Jonathan Millar. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Lars and Koyote~ in Iskremboden in late winter 2013. Yes, there was a lot of snow and ice, and the out house is damn cold at that time of year. Artwork and a good dose of inspiration by Kjetil Velo. Printed by Koyote~ and Kjetil at Blitz, Oslo (with hot tips and good guidance from Lara/Subterranean Prints). Listening and enjoying by YOU!
